After a stressful finals week, many Bobcats will return home for the summer, leaving the local economy nearly 30,000 people short. Ohio University students are responsible for a large portion of revenue for many local restaurants. Many of these restaurants change their hours during the summer months to reflect the drastic decrease in business. Are you staying in Athens for the summer? Here are the changed hours of some uptown hot-spots. Franco’s 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wendy’s Wendy’s is typically closed for the summer, but one employee said they will be open for the first two weeks of summer to gauge sales. Jimmy John’s Jimmy John’s will operate under its normal operating hours. Lotsa Stone Fired Pizza Lotsa Pizza Stone Fired Pizza will close at 10:00 p.m. during the summer. Big Mamma’s Burritos Big Mamma’s Burritos’ hours are to be determined. Pita Pit Pita Pit is debating between either 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m Subway 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the week, and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the weekend, Courtside Pizza TBD O’betty’s Red Hot Hours O’betty’s will continue its normal operating hours during the summer. Wings Over Athens TBD USD Union Street Diner will be open 24/7 this summer. Peking Express Peking Express will be closed during the summer. China King China King will be open through May but its summer hours are uncertain. Ginger Asian Kitchen TBD Buffalo Wild Wings TBD Chipotle Chipotle will close at 10 p.m. during the summer, according to a manager. Lady B’s Lady B’s will be closed during the summer. Bagel Street Deli TBD The Shack The Shack is usually closed during the summer, but Mike, the owner, said that depends on sales.
