Ohio U Campus Crime: Third sexual assault reported in three weeks

The Ohio University Police Department has received three reports of sexual assault on campus in the last the weeks.

Sexual Assault

On Nov. 10, at 12:59 a.m., an individual reported unwanted sexual contact from males at the Armbruster House on South Green. OUPD provided no further information on the victim nor the suspects.


OUPD gave five total drug-related citations this week. Four of these citations were for the possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. One individual at the Dougan House received a citation for the possession of an undisclosed controlled substance on Nov. 9. Lastly, at an undisclosed location on Nov. 13, a man was found to be in possession of a possible controlled substance.


There were two arrests for underage consumption this week, the first occurring on Nov. 11 at Gamertsfelder Hall at 9:02 p.m. The second arrest was at 12:11 a.m. the following day on Mulberry Street; this man was also charged with the possession of fictitious identification.

Additionally, OUPD gave two citations for the same crime, both on Nov. 9, at Ellis Hall and in Parking Lot 90. One woman was issued a summons and later transported to the regional jail on Nov. 12. Another woman was arrested for disorderly conduct via intoxication on Nov. 10 at Luchs Hall at 3:06 a.m.

Finally, at the Weld House on Nov. 12, a housekeeper found a missing wallet containing a fake ID and reported it to OUPD.


Six counts of theft were reported this week. Additionally, under the suspicion of the theft of a wallet, OUPD arrested one individual at Baker at 11:06 p.m. The same individual was also charged for possession an open container and marijuana drug paraphernalia.

Other items reported stolen this week include: bicycles from Grover Center and theft of service from Baker on Nov. 9, an undisclosed item from Gamertsfelder Hall on Nov. 10, cash from a wallet on Nov. 13 at Glidden Hall, and an iPhone from Gordy Hall (which was later recovered) on Nov. 14.

Traffic Offenses

OUPD responded to seven traffic incidents this week. In total, three citations were awarded for the following: two expired vehicle registrations, and one speed violation on Richland Avenue.

One report claims that a motorist struck a university-owned bus on Nov. 12. Two reports were filed the next day, the first of which concerned a possible hit-and-run outside the RTB at 12:17 p.m. Another traffic accident was reported two hours later in Parking Lot 150.

The only crime reported on Nov. 15 was a traffic accident that occurred outside of Alden Library at 12:50 p.m.

OUPD reported a single count of property destruction on Lincoln St. on Nov. 13 at 11:05 a.m..
