Money Student Senate discussed event budgets By ALEXANDRIA SCHELL Posted on April 1, 2013 2 min read 0 0 430 Student Senate discussed event budgets at the meeting Monday in Walter Hall. No presentations were given this week and there were also no additions made to this week’s agenda, but many resolutions were passed in regards to budgets for upcoming senate sponsored or hosted events. Senate passed a budget for a Senior Week event, which included a rock climbing wall from the minority affairs commission. Three hundred t-shirts will be ordered from Ares Sportswear at a cost of $4.25 each for a total of $1,275 for a senior week event as well. Senate also passed a budget for Sustainability Prize Packs. Surveys will be sent out to all students soon and upon completing one, that student will be entered for a chance to win one of these packs, plus a free trip to Whit’s Frozen Custard. This included grocery bags, water bottles, coffee mugs and tumblers for a grand total of $14.00 coming out of Senate’s pocket. The majority of costs were taken on by donors. There was an initial question of whether there were enough voting members in attendance to hold the meeting. A Student Senate meeting must have at least 21 voting members in order to be held. 27 voting members were in attendance, as a result of the ongoing Senate Presidential debate and election campaign. Senate members will vote on a resolution next week to approve changes to the student code of conduct.
